When I go look at the 911/912 what should I look out for? Rust? Disintegrated interior trim? Crash damage? I didn’t look to have headlights.....

Those headlights don’t look right, the open window worries me. What’s up with the rear wheel? Are there only two seats? Is that a rollcage? The front end looks off...

Keep them interested by repeatedly saying “I loooove these old beetles.” Ask if it’s the bigger 1600 engine.

I just did a search and there are zero radiators on ebay for these. Better make sure that the one in it’s good.

Realize there’s probably more bad than good for this car. Make a list of the good and figure if you want to rebuild a car from that foundation.

I’d check the floor plans as well. Rust in rockers or wheel wells. Bring a magnet.

The rear wheel is like that because without an engine and transmission in the butt it’s got no weight to put it down and the spring plates are maxed out.

The headlights don’t look right because you are just seeing the profile of the headlight bucket and I agree, may be smashed on the driver’s side.

Look for floors, they may be about 6-8" below the bottom of the car and look like dust. Tell us where you don’t find rust :)

Remove the tarp, open frunk, ask where the engine is.

I don’t think it has a “frunklid”

It’s sitting partially covered in the grass, so it must not be worth much to them for some reason... rust, mechanical problems, whatever. That doesn’t mean they’ll want to sell it or take a reasonable offer though.

Life the tarp up and say

“No no this is all wrong....whats that dear shield bullshit doing on the rusty beetle. And you’re throwing in zero Nazi memoribilia? No deal. NIEN!”

I’d say the most important things are rust and the presence of an engine block. Everything else is *relatively* inexpensive to deal with.
